  3. ACQUAINTANCE; companion;
  4. One dear brilliant woman;
  5. The best-endowed, the elect,
  6. All by their youth undone,
  7. All, all, by that inhuman
  8. Bitter glory wrecked.
  9. But I have straightened out
  10. Ruin, wreck and wrack;
  11. I toiled long years and at length
  12. Came to so deep a thought
  13. I can summon back
  14. All their wholesome strength.
  15. What images are these
  16. That turn dull-eyed away,
  17. Or Shift Time's filthy load,
  18. Straighten aged knees,
  19. Hesitate or stay?
